MADAMARA are the Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa) champions.
They won the title with one match to spare.Madamara finished the season with 70 points from 29 games while other contenders for the title, Rebels, trail them by four points which is an unassailable position.
Rebels dropped precious points when they abandoned their match against Securico last weekend which killed their chances of finishing top of the table this season.
Bafa chairman Chris Mtungwazi said it is disappointing that a team like Rebels messed up its chances of winning the championship because of indiscipline.
“It’s sad that a team like Rebels messed up its chances of winning the championship for the third time because of indiscipline, they put the name of the club and football into disrepute,” he said.
Mtungwazi said Rebels have been fined and have written a letter of apology to the association and Securico who were their opponents.
“The club was fined for its actions and wrote a letter of apology to the association,” he said.
Mtungwazi said the official crowning of Madamara will be after this weekend’s fixtures.
