Madamombe, a final-year Creative Art and Design student at Chinhoyi University of Technology, said she was excited about the exhibition that runs until to May 31.
She said the exhibition will feature textile designs, graphics, photography, monumental and environmental designs among others.
“I named this exhibition ‘The Maker’s Eye’ because I am convinced that art comes from inside. In the showcase, I am trying to express and show how art can be portrayed in different forms and ways,” she said.
“I grew up with my granny, who has faithfully funded all my studies from the very first day I sat my foot in school, and has catered for all my childhood needs. I always had a passion for art from a tender age and had an opportunity to study art as a practical subject at high school,” said Madamombe.
She added that she was a big fan of the ceramic terracotta which she used to mould model pots.
“When I got the privilege to pursue art at Chinhoyi University of Technology I went wild with creativity as I met lecturers who gave me the knowledge I needed as an aspirant artist,” she said.
She added that the four years of training at Chinhoyi University of Technology endowed her with a diverse imagination and creativity.
“It is this creativity and imagination that has seen me create a wide range of artefacts that include advertising design, graphic designs, drawings, paintings, textile design, photography, fashion design, environmental design, three-dimensional design, print making,” she said.
“Through art, man discovers, heightens and refines life experiences. Art helps one to clarify his or her feelings. On this exhibition, ‘The Maker’s Eye’ does believe in originality. I do not believe in copying and for an aspiring artist that is very important.”
