FC PLATINUM defensive midfielder, Edwin Farai Madhanhanga, is proving to be the club’s best signing this year following his impressive midfield displays at the defending champions.
The former Young Warriors midfielder came as a direct replacement of Gerald Takwara who left the miners to join South African Premiership side Ajax Cape Town. Initially, coach Norman Mapeza had targeted former Young Warriors skipper, Liberty Chakoroma, but settled for the former Harare City man after realising efforts to price away the highly-regarded Ngezi Platinum captain had failed.
The workaholic midfielder has provided an important midfield shield for stand-in coach, Lizwe Sweswe, where he has managed to build a good start in the Premiership campaign.
FC Platinum are unbeaten in their opening five league matches with four wins and a draw away to CAPS United in the capital.
Sweswe commended the efforts of Madhananga and also heaped praise on goalkeeper Francis Tizayi as well as the Cameroonian forward Albert Eonde.
“Everyone is doing very well and I am impressed with the way our new players have adapted to our way of play,’’ he said.
“Farai now has a lot of experience and it is evident by the way he has been playing in the team, he has adapted well into the way we prefer to play football.
“If he keeps on working hard then his future in football is bright.
“Francis has done well, it is good for a goalkeeper to keep clean sheets and it also gives him a lot of confidence.
“Albert is also a very good player and even though he has just managed one league goal, you can see in his movement that he is a talented player.
