A 35-year-old Epworth man, Abraham Chirivhayo, who was allegedly stabbed by his wife during a domestic dispute over a debt owed to loan sharks, is recovering after a successful operation at Parirenyatwa Hospital, area leaders have said.
Epworth Ward 6 Councillor, Civilised Ushe, said Chirivhayo popularly known as Madzibaba Abraham, underwent surgery soon after neighbours raised money to pay for his medical bills.
“The operation went well, and I am pleased to say Madzibaba Abraham is now in a stable condition,” said Clr Ushe.
“He is speaking and responding well to treatment, although doctors have advised that he will need time to fully recover.”
Clr Ushe added that the landlord, who was also injured while trying to break up the fight, was discharged from hospital yesterday and is recovering from home.

Epworth residents came together to raise the US$25 needed to start emergency treatment after learning that their neighbour required immediate surgery.
The Councillor said people contributed whatever they could, and by around 4pm on Thursday they had raised the required US$25.
“The payment was made just in time for the operation to proceed. It was truly a collective effort,”
he said.
His wife, Tafadzwa Mandaza, 31, has been arrested in connection with the attack, and appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court on Friday October 24, 2025 facing attempted murder charges and was remanded in custody. She was advised to approach the High Court for bail.
She will return to court on November 12.
