MADZIBABA ASSAULTS COPS WHILE RESISTING ARREST

A WARREN Park D based Madzibaba yesterday appeared at Mbare Magistrates court facing four charges of assaulting cops and another charge of theft of trust property.

Madzibaba Jukwa, 31, was resisting arrest at his shrine.

Police officers wrestled with Madzibaba Jukwa until they called for support and managed to arrest him.

Madzibaba Jukwa also faces charges of assaulting Farai Madondo with an iron bar and taking his US$220.

He faces another charge of assaulting Natasha Chingwena and Collen Ben.

Madzibaba Jukwa’s other charge involves theft of trust property where he is alleged to have violated an agreement with Chiedza Munyadzi, involving US$300 he was given to buy a refrigerator, which he never bought.

Appearing before a Mbare Magistrate, Madzibaba Jukwa left the gallery in stitches when he claimed that he paid US$50 to the police officers to stop them from arresting him.

“Ndakapa mapurisa mari saka handizivi kuti vakazouyasei vakundizvuzvurudza pakereke pazere vanhu ndikasiya ndakapaka GD6 yangu.

“Hapana asingandizive Highfield yese kuti ndinonzi Madzbaba Jukwa, ndinomwaya mari kuvanhu.

“Ndirerutsireiwo nditongwe ndichibva kumba nekuti ndine mwana ane makore matatu wandinogara naye,” said Madzibaba Jukwa, pleading for bail

The State, represented by Idrisa Mupandarekwa, told the court that Madzibaba Jukwa was not suitable for bail considering the number of counts he was facing and the gravity of the cases he is facing.

Magistrate Joni remanded him in custody to tomorrow.
