A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was allegedly raped by her church leader in Ushewekunze last month.
Madzibaba Praise is reported to be on the run after the victim advised church elders, on Sunday, about the attack.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said the victim was referred to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital for medical examination.
“Police are investigating a case where a 14-year-old girl was raped by her church leader,” said Insp Chakanza.
He said the accused and complainant are congregants at the same apostolic church shrine.
“Sometime in October, at a water well in Ushewokunze, Border Gezi Area, the accused, popularly known as Madzibaba Praise, called the complainant into a room adjacent to the water well.
“When the complainant entered the room, the accused person pushed her to the ground, forcibly undressed the complainant and raped her once without protection.
“During the act, the complainant screamed and the accused person fled after the act.
“The complainant did not disclose the incident to anyone.
“The complainant later decided to reveal the ordeal to church elders who then advised her to lodge a police report against Madzibaba Praise,” said Insp Chakanza.
