MADZIBABA SIMBA ON A MISSION TO FIGHT CHILD MARRIAGES

MADZIBABA Simbarashe Nengomasha of Chitungwiza, popularly known as Madzibaba Simba, has embarked on a campaign against child marriages amid reports of sexual abuse among Apostolic groups dotted around the country.

He told H-Metro that his congregation has been engaging police Victim Friendly Unit officers who are addressing his members on issues related to sexual abuse as well as child marriages.

Madzibaba Simba said his congregation has also introduced fish farming as a way of empowering their youths and fighting drug and substance abuse.

He said some of the beneficiaries have since started to run their own projects, with the assistance of their trained church members.

“Our church secretariat has been collecting a database of our church members,” said Madzibaba Simba.

“We have realised that we have a pool of skilled church members in various facets and that is what we are utilising in fighting drug and substance abuse, early marriages and in empowering our members.

“A number of them have since completed fish farming training and our skilled members have been helping them in constructing fish ponds and running their own projects.

“With adequate land, we can now do bigger projects that can create more jobs.

“The issue of drug and substance abuse is not sparing anyone and through these projects we are fighting it by ensuring that our youths engage in meaningful businesses,” said Madzibaba Simba.

He added:

“We do not shun building shelters at our shrines but we face challenges in acquiring pieces of land.

“We have better ablution facilities at our shrines and kitchen houses for the training of our girls and boys,” said Madzibaba Simba.
