MADZIBABA Nicholas Zakaria’s widow, Margaret Gweshe, may still be mourning after losing her husband, but she has the full support of her fellow widows.
She was all smiles recently when members of the Creatives Widows Association of Zimbabwe (Crewaz) paid her a visit and brought her some groceries.
Superintended by Kireni Zulu, Crewaz is a movement dedicated to supporting widows of artists.
Gweshe, who lost her husband on December 11 last year, is the newest member of this group. “Words are not enough to thank all of you for making the effort to come and see me at home. I have been mourning my husband, and today I feel loved and comforted.
“I will always cherish the good deeds you are doing for me.
“I am prepared to work with you and help other widows in my position. We need each other in both happy and trying times.”
Chaired by Zvanyadza Tendaupenyu, the widow of Tairos Tendaupenyu, known for the hit song “Furuwa-Furuwa,” the association aims to address pressing issues affecting their well-being.
Established last year with the support of their main sponsor and benefactor, Dr Johannes Marisa, Crewaz provides free medication and other essential assistance to its members.
Eloice Sibanda, the widow of Marko Sibanda, was voted vice-chairperson, while Aripawo Muchawaya, the former wife of Ketai Muchawaya, emerged as treasurer.
Tatenda Pinjisi’s young widow has assumed the role of secretary, with Joyce Chari, the widow of former Farai Brothers leader, Shame Masangudze, deputising her.
Other committee members include Christine Matongorere (Moses Rwizi’s widow), Esther Musango (Daiton Somanje’s widow), Barbara Mabuyaye (System Tazvida’s widow), Ratidzo Tecla Marasha (Biggie Tembo’s widow), and Manyara Muchandibaya, the widow of Wiseman Magaya.
