PRECIOUS Madzimbe, a local physiotherapist and author, published a book on prostate cancer at the beginning of the month to raise awareness about men’s health.
He is ecstatic to have distributed a record-breaking 1 million free e-copies in just under a month.
Madzimbe officially launched the book titled Prostate Cancer in Africa: Family Involvement, Faith as Pillars of Support on November 1.
An excited Madzimbe said his ultimate aim is to get the book translated into different languages to engage all men across Southern Africa.
“So far, I have distributed 1 million free e-copies. I aim to get the book translated into all Zimbabwean languages,” said Madzimbe.

He has already managed to fund the Ndau translations of the book, which have since started.
“I will be distributing a Ndau copy soon. I call upon other Zimbabweans to come on board to support this project. Let’s keep spreading the word because #MensHealthMatters,” he said.
The multi-award-winning Madzimbe has several medical books under his belt, including Participation of Fathers and Siblings in Home Rehabilitation Programmes for Children with Neuro-Developmental Delay: A Scoping Review, which he published with other writers.
His second offering, in collaboration with another writer, is Prevalence of Developmental Delay and Associated Risk Factors among At Risk Surveillance System (ARSS) Children at United Bulawayo Hospitals, Zimbabwe. Madzimbe has also authored research books such as Paediatric Physiotherapy: Patient Assessment in the African Context.
He said his latest book seeks to educate Zimbabweans about prostate cancer, which significantly affects men.
“As physiotherapists, we assist prostate cancer patients to become mobile, more active, and improve their quality of life. This month of November is dedicated to raising awareness on men’s health issues, mainly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health affecting men,” said Madzimbe.
He emphasised the great need to raise awareness of men’s health, which is often ignored. At various world medical engagement forums, Madzimbe has been described as a meticulous, industrious, conscientious, innovative, and exceptional decision-maker, who is a good teacher and excels in child and adolescent health.
“I have a high interest in paediatric physiotherapy research focusing on oncology and neuro-developmental disability. I also enjoy engaging persons with lived experience in research. My goal is to expand paediatric research in low-resource contexts like Zimbabwe,” said Madzimbe.
