managing director for African Sun between 2002 and 2011.
He left African Sun in November 2011 to concentrate on private business. He is the past president of the Zimbabwe Council for Tourism.

He did his articles with PricewaterhouseCoopers and holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science degree from the University of South Africa and a Master of Business Administration degree from Hull University in the United Kingdom.
RTG board chairman Dr Joseph Kanyekanye told journalists yesterday that the appointment was in line with the commitment that his board, which was reconstituted at the end of July 2012, had made to prioritise the appointment of a chief executive within 90 days of its first meeting.
“I am very happy to announce that this target has been met,” Dr Kanyekanye said.
He said in their search for a CEO they had certain qualities that they sought as a board, including the recruitment of an experienced commander, an individual with a proven track record of passion and dedication “that speaks for itself”.
They were also looking for an individual with a strong will to change things around, an individual able to make tough decisions for the prosperity of the organisation and one able to deliver results.
“We are happy to advise that the candidate that the committee put forward for appointment was unanimously recommended by all members of the HR committee,” he said.
“The board unanimously approved the appointment of this individual as chief executive at the last board meeting held on October 29, 2012. The board believes that it made the correct decision in this regard.”
He commended Mr Changunda for standing in as acting chief executive during the past few months.
“Allow me to take this opportunity to thank Paschal and the management team and every one of our employees who constitute our key assets for holding the fort,” said Kanyekanye
In his acceptance speech, Mr Madziwanyika emphasised the need for group to reposition itself as the pre-eminent hospitality group in Zimbabwe.
“I look forward to working together with the RTG team to build a strong future for our shareholders, customers, suppliers and employees. I am fully cognisant of the task ahead that is required for the success of Rainbow Tourism Group,” he said.
“I stand entrusted with an organisation that has high expectations from its shareholders who obviously are expectant of superior return on their investment, and one that plays a fundamental role in the future success of the hospitality sector in Zimbabwe. This task requires us to think clearly about our business model going forward.
“The main challenge being to restructure the balance sheet and aggressively drive revenues while pushing costs down,” he said.
