Cde Madzongwe said this after Senate adjourned after about 20 minutes due to the absence of ministers.
Only Home Affairs Minister Kembo Mohadi, Health and Child Welfare Minister Dr Henry Madzorera and Labour and Social Welfare Minister Paurina Mpariwa were present in Senate yesterday.
“I want to remind the ministers that you are letting us down. We always have business that has to be cleared with the ministers but you are not showing up.
“How are we expected to work then?
“We come prepared to work as people’s representatives but we cannot carry out our work when ministers don’t come,” she said.
The only business that was carried out was the notices by the three ministers to move motions on various protocols they wanted Senate to ratify today.
The other business that was on the Senate Order paper includes a motion to ratify the International Renewable Energy Agency (Statute of IRENA) moved by Energy and Power Development Minister Elton Mangoma and the Securities Amendment Bill that is at its Second Reading Stage and is being moved by Finance Minister Tendai Biti.
The others were adverse reports by the Parliamentary Legal Committee on Statutory Instrument No.4 of 2013, the Zimbabwe Youth Council (General) Regulations, 2013, Statutory Instrument No 25 of 2013, Mangwe Rural District Council (Sand Extraction) By Laws, 2013 and Statutory Instrument no 29 of 2013, Mining (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 2013 (No 17).
Senators were also supposed to ask the ministers questions on various issues.
