BULAWAYO hip-hop artiste Melusi Mgcini Nyathi also known as Maestro VI has released his third album titled Scars.
Nyathi said the title of this album tells a story.
“First of all, the word scars has a deeper meaning as every letter has its meaning; S-survive, C-cope, A-adjust, R-revise and S-survive. It is about a ghetto story based on circumstances and hardships that people live in and I also reflects on my real life too as I have gone through tough situations but there is survival and light at the end of the tunnel in this story I am telling”, he said.
He revealed that his album is more of a double album as it has 19 tracks.
“I did one of the unique albums as it contains 19 songs and I can say that it is more of a double album as it is a double CD, one side describes a struggle and side two is about hope and survival.
“In this album I featured artistes like I Lduce, Anonzi Xander from Harare, Slim Jeez Luba my niece and Maya, a female artiste and I also produce my own beats at my studio Chifonia Music Group,” he said.
He added that the future of hip-hop is bright in Bulawayo and all stakeholders must play their role.
The biggest stages he has performed at are Shoko Festival alongside Kuli Chana (South African artiste) and also in the Inaugural Hip-hop Summit.
He also gave a word of advice to other upcoming artistes.
“Upcoming artistes should stay humble and be patient, everything will just fall into its place,” he said.
