from campaigning for the elections but he expressed worry on people who elect leaders who cannot change their lives.
Cde Mafa was speaking during a handover ceremony of eight bulls to communal farmers in Mhondoro-Mubaira Constituency by a local cattle breeding company, Makera Cattle Company last Friday.
“Those who want to represent the party will always be welcome but they should go to the people in their constituencies and prove themselves,” said Cde Mafa adding.
“If the people agree that they are significant to their community development then they will obvious gain leadership.”
Cde Mafa also commended the party supporters for their overwhelming contribution to the new constitution through their turnout to voting.
He said this was just the beginning which should be fulfilled by voting for the right candidates during the national elections. The handover brings to 86 the number of bulls given to farmers in the area since 2007 with a total value of close to US$273 000.
The initiative is aimed at cross breeding the animals, improve their quality and ensure that rural cattle farmers get maximum yield out of their cattle. Minister of State in the office of Vice President Joice Mujuru and House of Assembly Member for the area, Cde Sylvester Nguni called on the farmers to intensify their farming.
“Those who brought independence did so once, for all of us and this means they should be given the respect they deserve,” he said.
Agriculture, Mechanisation and Irrigation Development Minister Dr Joseph Made who was supposed to attend the event was represented by the principal director in the ministry Mr Joseph Gondo, who expressed Government’s concern over the calfing rate in the country.
