adminAmbuya Hasve, born Micky Kamudzakada Hasve (82), succumbed to an oesophagus illness which gave her difficulties in breathing.
Speaking at the funeral, Mt Darwin South MP Cde Saviour Kasukuwere described Mbuya Hasve as a strong and dedicated woman who lived to assist everyone throughout her life.
“She was a strong and dedicated woman who promoted a spirit of unison in the community,” he said.
“She was a selfless woman who immensely contributed during the liberation struggle and a counsellor to everyone.”
Family spokesperson Mr Rangarirai Kembo said Mbuya Hasve was a loving and devoted grandmother.
“She was devoted in all things she did and had high expectations from everyone in the family,” he said.
“She did not segregate against people and her legacy will forever be cherished by the family and the whole community.”
Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended the funeral.
Among them were Zanu-PF officials, national chairperson Cde Simon Khaya Moyo, Harare provincial chairperson Cde Amos Midzi and Politburo member Professor Jonathan Moyo.
Brigadier-General Douglas Nyikayaramba and Midlands Governor and Resident Minister Cde Jason Machaya were also present.
Cde Khaya Moyo said in his condolence message that everyone in the party had learnt of the death of Mbuya Hasve with deep sadness and sorrow.
“Losing a mother is an exceptionally painful experience, but one must accept God’s ruling,” he said.
“There is no doubt she played her role as a pillar of the family. She has completed her race and has left a legacy of hard work and unity in the family.
“I express sincere condolences on behalf of the revolutionary party and all provincial chairpersons of Zanu-PF.”
Mbuya Hasve was born on February 12 1930 in Mutsaunobaya Village under Chief Matope in Mt Darwin.
In 1980, she became Zanu-PF treasurer in Mutsaunobaya Village before becoming district treasurer for Muku-ngurutse Village in 1986.
She is survived by nine children and several grandchildren
