SCHOOL pupils, who for fun stole goods worth $23, were yesterday warned against the dangers of choosing crime as a career. Sentencing two boys aged 15 and 16 from Mapholisa village who broke into a tuck shop and stole goods worth $23, Plumtree magistrate, Livard Philimoni said the pupils should stop pursuing the dangerous career of crime.
“Focus on your studies and refrain from engaging in criminal activities.
“It is not good for people as young as you to have criminal records.
“The items you stole prove that you were stealing just for the fun of it,” said Philimoni.
The two boys broke into a tuck shop at Linda business centre and stole sweets, a radio, bottle of lotion and batteries worth $23.
Philimoni sentenced the duo from Mqokolweni Secondary School in Mangwe District to 12 months imprisonment each and suspended six months on condition of good behaviour. The remaining six months were also suspended on condition that they each perform 210 hours of community service at Kahlu Primary School and Madabe Police Station respectively.
