A HEATED family dispute took a dark and violent turn in Magwegwe suburb, Bulawayo, when a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his stepmother in the face following a fiery bust-up with his father.

Mayibongwe Mzacana appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Archie Wochiwunga facing charges of physical abuse after a domestic clash spiralled into bloodshed.

He was remanded in custody to 22 April 2025 for trial and was not asked to plead.

According to court papers, the drama unfolded on 9 April around 7PM.

Mayibongwe clashed with his father over undisclosed family issues while the complainant, Siphephule Maphosa, looked on.

Tempers flared — and so did violence.

In a fit of rage, Mayibongwe allegedly stormed into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and threatened to stab both his father and stepmother.

Moments later, he turned the blade on Maphosa, striking her on the left cheek and leaving her injured.

The matter was reported to the police, and Mzacana was swiftly arrested.
