VETERAN talk show host, Mai Rebecca Chisamba, has said Janet Manyowa’s album launch was a clear demonstration of how the power of music can unite people from different backgrounds and genres.
Mai Chisamba, who was the guest of honour at the event held at 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale on Saturday, commended stakeholders in the arts fraternity for setting aside their personal differences to come together and support a fellow artist.
Many established and upcoming artists from the music industry attended the event to lend their unwavering support to Manyowa, who is renowned for her exquisite vocals in both English and her mother language.
“The album was recorded live in Bulawayo at the Wanqoba Concert last year. It’s such a blessing to have an amazing artist like her with exquisite vocals as she sings perfectly well in her mother language and English.
“I became friends with her before she even knew it because I had fallen in love with her voice. I would like to thank every artist who came to support her.
“This is a clear image of love, support and unity despite different genres they are in, but unity under the power of music,” said Mai Chisamba.
Artists, Jah Prayzah, dub poet Albert Nyathi, Minister Mahendere, Dr Charissa, Mark Madzinga, the album producer, Pastor Prince Mafukidze and jazz sensation Dudu Manhenga graced the event in a show of solidarity.
