MAI TT is being praised for helping a woman, who was recently released from prison under the Presidential Amnesty, rebuild her life.
The woman, only identified as Betty, was arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison.
Her two brothers were also jailed for the same number of years.
They were arrested for stealing cattle from their village. When Betty was released from prison, Mai TT decided to assist her, and her children, as they try to rebuild their shattered lives.
Mai TT revealed that the woman’s story had deeply affected her and it pushed her to act.
“My heart is heavy. I cannot just keep quiet about this situation because it has deeply touched me,” she said.
Mai TT said although she normally avoids bringing people into her personal space, she felt compelled to help after learning about the children’s struggles.
“I have already found a place where Betty and her children can stay.
“Honestly, these days I do not usually bring friends or other people into my home, but I could not leave the children like this,” she said.
The comedienne also revealed that the children were left vulnerable after their father died and family disputes forced them out of their home.
Mai TT has called on the public to assist the family so that the children can eventually return to school and live better lives.
Her appeal quickly caught the attention of many Zimbabweans online, with fans praising her for showing compassion and using her platform to help those in need.
“Mai TT has a big heart. Not everyone would step in like that to help someone who is starting life again,” said Lindiwe Nhamo.
Another fan hailed her for giving the family hope during a difficult time.
“This is what humanity looks like. Instead of judging, she chose to help and that is something we should all learn from,” the fan said.
Others said the gesture highlighted the importance of giving people a second chance after they have served their time in jail.
“People make mistakes in life but they deserve another opportunity. Mai TT is showing us the power of kindness,” said Makusha Liam.
Her intervention has since sparked conversations online about compassion, forgiveness and the challenges many people face when trying to rebuild their lives after prison.
Mai TT’s actions show that celebrities can use their influence not only to entertain but also to uplift communities and bring attention to social issues affecting ordinary people.
