A 22-YEAR-OLD maid was yesterday remanded in custody after she appeared in court accused of indecently assaulting an eight-year-old boy she was employed to take care of.
The suspect, Melissa Gudo, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Letwin Rwodzi.
She is expected back in court in August for trial commencement and was advised to approach the High Court for bail considerations as she is facing a third schedule offence.
Prosecutors alleged that on July 25, Gudo retired to sleep in the same room with the boy, but on different beds.
The complainant allegedly woke up and discovered that his pyjama trousers and underwear had been removed.
He allegedly saw Gudo walking to her bed and felt pain in his penis and realised that he had been sexually abused by her.
The next day, the boy told his mother that he was feeling pain in his private parts and upon interviewing him, he revealed that he had been sexually abused by the maid.
A police report was filed at ZRP Ruwa leading to Gudo’s arrest.
