court order

A BRAVO bus driver appeared in court yesterday seeking maintenance variation downwards from $250 to $50 saying the company had reduced their salaries.

Mr Knowledge Muza dragged his ex-wife Ms Nombulelo Dastele of Nkulumane suburb to the maintenance court saying that he can no longer afford to pay $250 which he was ordered to pay in January.

“My salary has been reduced from $350 to $265 by the company. I have to pay rent, buy clothes and l have loan deductions. I can’t afford to do all these things with $265. My worship may you please consider my variation downwards,” said Mr Muza.

Ms Dastele told Bulawayo Maintenance magistrate Mr Manase Musiiwa that their two children’s school fees were more than $50.

“$50 is nothing. Our children need school fees, clothes and food. How can l afford to do all these things with $50?” said Dastele.

Ms Dastele said Mr Muza defaulted paying maintenance in September and he was in $250 arrears.

Mr Musiiwa reduced Mr Muza monthly payments to $150.

“Application for variation downwards is hereby granted. The order of $250 per month has been varied downwards to $150 monthly,” said the magistrate.

On January 15 this year, Ms Dastele dragged Mr Muza to court claiming maintenance after complaining that he was not contributing towards the upkeep of their two minor children.
