Majeke thrives without music promoters

devise ways of reaching out to their target audience.
Most of these promoters are only keen on working with household names in the industry sidelining a number of upcoming artistes.

But this move by the promoters has not dampened the spirits of some of these young musicians who have taken it upon themselves to have their voices heard by showcasing their talents at the best opportunity that comes their way.
One of such artistes is none other than Baba Mechanic Manyeruke’s former guitarist, Herbert Majeke, who instead of just hiring out his PA system to people holding public functions like weddings and parties, among others, has decided to use the same events as a platform to play his music live.

The whole idea is to make his music reach out to people and the trick seems to be working, as was evidenced by his recent performances at such gatherings.
Backed by his Takashinga Stars outfit, the versatile artiste, who is also a sound engineer with Hard Sound Pro Audio based in Harare, has become a hit at these gatherings where his music has stolen the hearts of many.

“I have realised that if I wait for promoters to give me shows, I will just sit doing nothing waiting for them to offer me a show. That is why I have decided to engage the people who hire my PA system to slot me in, in their programmes so that I will perform and make my music heard,” he said.

And true to his words, Majeke’s music has made an impact at the events.
The young artiste has also used the same platform to market his latest album titled “Takashinga” recorded at Alick Macheso’s Last Power Media.
Some of the songs on the album, the kanindo gem, “Fiona” and “Mabasa”, have become favourites of brides at weddings in that the songs talk about the contribution that women make not only in the homestead but also in society at large.

“Mukoma Desmond”, “Kana Nemiwo”, “Nzeve Kune Vanoziva”, “Rudo”, “Chadzimira” and “Percentage” which also make up part of the album, have found their way into people’s hearts at such public gatherings.

It’s his second album after his debut titled “Kugara Kunzwana”.
At just the age of 26, Majeke said he felt that his destiny as an artiste was in his own hands to make sure that he fulfils his dream as an artiste.

“I feel the destiny is in our hands to make it big in the music industry.
“That is why I always make efforts to have my music heard by any means necessary,” he said.
Born on February 3, 1985 in Zengeza, Chitungwiza, Majeke’s passion for music started while he was still a grade three pupil at Zengeza 5 Primary before carrying it on to secondary level at Zengeza

1 High. After school, the young musician played for Mechanic Manyeruke before taking his talents to other groups like Mambokadzi, whom he assisted in recording their album “Idanger”, Agartha Murudzwa and Tambaoga, among others.

He then founded his own outfit, Takashinga Stars.
