The roads being rehabilitated will be closed until July 31, and traffic will be controlled by detours.
The Harare City Council issued the permission in accordance with Section 30 of the Roads Act (Chapter 263).
The affected roads include Sam Nujoma Street Extension: Servitude from Gwebi River bridge to Lomagundi Road, Bannockburn Road Crossing, Harare Drive Crossing, Norfolk Road Crossing, Endeavour Road Crossing, Arundel School Road Crossing, The Chase Crossing, Cheshire Road Crossing, Hendrikz Way, Dorset East Road Crossing, Broadlands Road Crossing, Lomagundi Road Servitude, Brighton Road Servitude and Upper East Road Servitude.
Road users are encouraged to exercise caution when approaching these areas.
Harare Town Clerk, Hosiah Chisango, said permission to trench was given in terms of the council by-laws.
“City of Harare wishes to inform its valued residents that there will be temporary road closures to allow for road trenching and water pipe laying by the University of Zimbabwe,” he said.
“Specific crossing points will be indicated by informative signs. Traffic will be controlled by detour signage and workmen on sites where necessary. Road users are encouraged to exercise caution when approaching these areas,” said Chisango.
