CHILDREN and young people across Zimbabwe are set to benefit from an entrepreneurship programme after Zanu-PF shadow legislator for Southerton Constituency, Cde Andrew Makahamadze, was appointed patron of Young Kidprenuers Zimbabwe.

The initiative, led by director Ms Shalom Ramunyenyiwa, seeks to nurture creativity, innovation and financial literacy among children by equipping them with practical business skills and mentorship opportunities.

The programme aims to develop a generation of confident, responsible and self-reliant young people capable of contributing to Zimbabwe’s future economy.

Speaking to Zimpapers on Friday, Cde Makahamadze said youth empowerment should begin early, with children being exposed to entrepreneurship before adulthood.

“We must invest in our children now, because they are the innovators and leaders of tomorrow,” he said.

“This programme shows that Zimbabwe is serious about preparing its youth to take charge of their own destinies.”

He highlighted that initiatives like Young Kidpreneurs spread opportunity beyond urban centres, ensuring inclusivity.

“This drive is not just centred in Harare, it is cutting across all provinces. We are seeing empowerment reach even the most remote communities, and that deserves our full support.”

Young Kidprenuers Zimbabwe Director Ms Shalom Ramunyenyiwa said exhibitions and workshops are more than hobbies.

She said they are platforms for children to learn financial responsibility and leadership.

“Entrepreneurship is not just about selling products; it is about teaching children confidence, responsibility and innovation,” she said.

“We want them to grow up knowing how to manage money, create opportunities, and contribute to their communities.”

She appealed for support from leaders and institutions to expand the programme’s reach and impact.

“Your patronage will help us expand our training, exhibitions and mentorship to more children across the country. Investing in young entrepreneurs today is an investment in Zimbabwe’s economic future.”
