HARARE Sports Club lock David Makamba feels his team has started the rugby league on a good note and they are hoping to keep the strong work ethic throughout the season.  Makamba, who was voted the NRL Rookie of the Year for 2013, is dreaming of playing for the national team.

Harare Sports Club are currently on top of the log after winning their two fixtures.

Makamba has played a key role in Sportivo’s two victories in the company of Kudakwashe Chisepo, Daniel Hondo, Josh Mutasa and 2013 top try scorer Teddy Hwata.

Their captain Shingai Mpofu, who just returned from his club in Scotland, has also played a crucial role.
In their match against Old Miltonians, Sportivo powered their way to a 56-12 victory and then destroyed Zvishavane  89-0.

“I am learning a lot from the experienced Mpofu, we lock together and the two matches which we played were so easy because we did a lot of team work and put into good use coach Sykes Sibanda’s strategy.

“We have started the league on a good note and if we continue playing the way we played in our past two games then we are certainly going to be this year’s top team,” said Makamba.

Defending champions Old Hararians have one victory, over Panthers whom they thumped 87-3.
