Ruwa Local Board is conducting enforcement operations to ensure compliance with its mandate and relevant regulatory requirements.
The board’s public relations officer, Ms Josephine Mwaitirwa told Herald Online that the exercise began last week and is still ongoing.
“Today, our enforcement teams are operating at PaGeorge along Mutare Road, as well as at the intersection of Mutare Road and Chiremba Road, where vendors selling grapes at the traffic lights are being addressed,” she said.
Ms Mwaitirwa said the operations are aimed at ensuring the orderly use of public spaces, compliance with applicable regulations and promoting a safe and orderly environment for road users and residents.
She said the local authority will continue enforcing its mandate in accordance with the applicable legislative framework.
Ms Mwaitirwa said council is also planning to construct new designated vending sites and expand the existing ones.
She added that vendor registration is being conducted concurrently with the clean-up exercise.
