THERE will be all to play for in today’s final match of the 2022/23 Pro50 Championship regional series at Queens Sports Club with the three-match contest tied 1-1 going into the final fixture.

The two teams, Northerns and Southerns are made up of the best players from the recently completed Pro50 Championship season which was won by Mountaineers and the teams will clash for the top honours later today.

Having levelled the series on Monday, the Northerns will be hoping to continue with the form to take home the title while their opponents will be looking at rediscovering their formula from the first match.

With no rain projected for the day, both teams will be hopeful there are no disruptions as the first two games have had overs reduced due to rain. The first match was reduced to a 24 overs affair while the second one was a delayed start and 41 overs were played instead of the full 50 overs.

Both teams, in the completed matches, have highlighted batting prowess with the Southerns chasing down the target of 161 runs with eight wickets to spare in the opening match. In the second one, it was the Northerns’ chance to prove they can chase which they successfully did. They managed to chase the target of 245 target for the loss of five wickets.

The Northerns will be looking to Nkosana Mpofu who has proved to be handy with the ball and Faraz Akram to get the job done when bowling. With the bat, the team will be looking to Tadiwanashe Marumani who has been in form to once again deliver. Marumani top scored with 71 runs off 41 deliveries when Northerns floored Southerns by five wickets on Monday.

On the other side, leading wicket taker in the Pro50 Championship, Brandon Mavuta is expected to continue racking up the wickets alongside Victor Nyauchi and Keith Jaure. With the bat, the Southerns will be looking to have Kasuza, who scored 80 runs not out in the first match come good alongside Richmond Mutumbami and Timycen Maruma. — @brandon_malvin
