RENOWNED Hollywood-based make-up artist, Jackie Mgido, has pledged to bring a positive narrative in the industry in Zimbabwe to make it a reliable source of income.
She put her plan into motion by hosting a haunted house, Halloween-themed, special effects make-up workshop recently.
Jackie identified the lack of necessary equipment as one of the major challenges for make-up artists in Zimbabwe.
“Zimbabwe has talent, but the major limitation is the unavailability of resources required to do special effects make-up.
“I am going to be bringing that here and also teaching make-up artists how to do special effects make-up.
“The main idea is for people from different countries to come to Zimbabwe to get make-up artists for their projects, or to learn how to do special effects make-up.
“Zimbabwe is a very peaceful country and many people would choose to be here than anywhere else.”
Jackie used the workshop to display the importance of make-up for the success of a movie or film.
“There are various elements when it comes to making a film or TV show a success, but one of the most important is making the characters look realistic,” she said.
Make-up artists got the opportunity to learn how to apply make-up for horror and sci-fi movies and to make everything look real.
Jackie has worked on various projects such as the Food Network Halloween Championship and the documentary, Kevy Aucoin: Beauty And The Beast In Me.
