MAKOKOBA is cooking again.

A new rap duo, Tee x Tekie, is putting the historic township back in the spotlight, dropping bars in three languages and setting social media ablaze with their unique, culture-rich sound.

The brothers, Talent and Talkmore Sibanda, have become the talk of the town after a show-stopping performance of their upcoming single “Anthem of Hope” at the National Excellence Hall of Fame Awards in Harare.

Blending Ndebele, Shona and English, the track left jaws on the floor and fans calling for more.

“We’ve been dreaming about this since our days at Milton High. We started in 2012, but things got serious in 2017. Since then, it’s been all grind,” said the pair.
With an EP “Siyabonga”, an album “Spotlight” and a stream of singles under their belt, Tee x Tekie are quickly becoming a force in Zimbabwe’s hip-hop landscape.
However, it has not always been smooth sailing.

“Studio time and beats cost money, and most studios don’t care about talent if you don’t pay up. We’ve had to hustle hard to keep our dream alive,” they said.
Their strength lies in connecting cultures through music, and fans are loving it.

“We mix languages because that’s who we are as Zimbabweans. The love online has been unreal. Every like, share and comment is fuel for our journey,” they added.
As fully independent artists, the brothers are proud of their hustle.

“We control everything, from recording to marketing. It’s not about rushing — it’s about making good music that speaks to people.”

The duo has promised a new single by the end of the month and more heat to follow throughout the year.

With legends like Beater Mangete, Dorothy Masuka, and Siyaya Arts hailing from Makokoba, Tee x Tekie are next in line to carry the torch.
Watch this space — Makokoba’s next stars have arrived.
