A POLICY aimed at addressing disparities between women and men in Makonde district has been launched today.

Officiating at the launch of the document at Muchaedza Primary School in the district, Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Deputy Minister Jennifer Mhlanga said the policy was a step in the right direction towards achieving an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.

The policy dovetails with the Zimbabwe National Gender Policy and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) protocol on Gender Development.

Among other reasons, the policy seeks to address ownership and control of resources as well as allocation of land and housing in line with women’s rights.
