Makusha for NCCA finals

Athletic Association Champion-ships in the United States.
The NCAA Championships will be held from June 8 to 11 at Des Moines in Iowa, United States.
Makusha booked his place in the Florida State University’s men’s and women’s track and field side for this prestigious event during the East Regional meet which was held at the weekend at Bloomington in Indianapolis.
According to reports from Florida, Makusha will represent FSU in the men’s 100m, 4x100m relay and long jump events at next month’s NCAA Champion-ships.
In fact, seven Florida State athletes qualified for the NCAA Championships on the final day of the East Regional in Bloomington.
That means 19 FSU athletes will be headed for Des Moines on June 8-11.
The men will be represented by Makusha (100m, long jump), Maurice Mitchell (100m, 200m), Michael Putman (shotput, discus), Ciaran O’Lionaird (10 000m, 5000m), Mike Fout (10 000m), Andrew Lahaye (pole vault), Brandon O’Connor (400m), Brandon Byram (200) and the 4×100 relay team of Mitchell, Makusha, Byram and David Ambler.
The women will send Kim Williams (triple jump, long jump), Amy Harris (long jump), Michelle Jenije (triple jump), Hannah Brooks (1 500m) and the 4x100m relay team of Teona Rodgers, Brittany St Louis, Stephanie Simpson and Danielle Jeffery.
But FSU’s hopes of doing well at the NCAA Championships will be placed on the shoulders of their star Zimbabwean athlete Makusha who recently recorded one of the fastest times of the year in the 100m dash by clocking an astonishing 9,97 seconds. This was also a new national 100m record in Zimbabwe.
At the weekend in Indianapolis, Florida State’s Mitchell (10,24 seconds) and Makusha 10,26, won their sections to suggest a swift final in Des Moines.
Mitchell was the fastest qualifier in the 200m at 20,60.
Apart from competing in the 100m event, Makusha was also part of the FSU men’s 4x100m relay team.
The FSU men’s 4x100m relay team of team Mitchell, Kemar Hyman, Makusha and his fellow Zimbabwean Paul Madzi-vire, combined to post a 39,17 seconds national-qualifying time.
Makusha, as expected, also led the long jump with a leap of 8,07m.
At the NCAA Championships, Maku-sha is the favourite in the long jump and has the best legal 100-metre time in the United States this year (9,97 seconds).
Fellow junior Mitchell will be one of Makusha’s chief competitors in the 100m (along with Florida two-sport star Jeff Demps) and has the second-fastest 200 time in the nation this season as well.
