Makwara appointed deputy mayor

He was suspended together with Clrs Jacob Rukweza, Brighton Mazhindu, Ernest Muridzi, Boniface Manyonganise and Orbert Muchawaya.
A full council meeting yesterday noted the suspension of the six councillors and elected Clr Makwara as the deputy to Alderman Philimon Chipiyo.

She beat Clr Tinashe Kazuru by eight votes to four.

Council is also looking for a new town clerk to replace Mr Godfrey Tanyanyiwa who was fired recently on corruption charges. The council also wants to employ a new chamber secretary, director of health services, director of housing and community services after the incumbents were either fired or resigned under pressure.
