Malan wins at Donnybrook

SOUTH Africa’s Mathew Malan managed to win the MX1 and MX2 races at the Summer Series which ended at Donnybrook yesterday. Malan, who also had good outings in the previous two races held on Wednesday and Friday, got the better of nine other riders in the MX1 where he finished on 159 points four ahead of second placed Damon Strydom also from South Africa.

Jefferey Meurs of the Netherlands could not disappoint in the same class as he came third on 145 points. In the MX2 Malan dominated proceedings finishing on 175 points as Joshua Mlimi was second on 139 points with Ash Thixton coming third on 138 points.

Meurs said he was happy with the level of competition and would like to return to other events next season. “I enjoyed the races it was competitive and I look forward to take part in other races in the country next season. I was new to the track but I managed to give the challenge and I am happy with my performance,” Meurs said.

Travis DaSilva managed to win the 50cc class on 177 points, seven clear of second-placed Emamuel Bako as Jordan Dewdney was third on 164 points. The 125cc class was won by Mlimi on 170 points while Regan Wasmuth was second on 145 points as Thixton completed the top three.

Ryan Masimo came out top in the 65cc on 175 points with Ricky Whyte coming on second on 146 points while DaSilva completed the race. The 85cc class was won by Dalton Venter on 166 poi9nts as Cameron Durrow was second on 156 points while David Cocker was third.
