Malema’s bid to appeal conviction denied

South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema’s leave to appeal his conviction has been denied. He has, however, been granted leave to appeal his five-year jail sentence.

Malema had been sentenced to five years direct imprisonment in his firearm handling and discharge case.

Malema appeared in the East London Regional Court for a second day in his highly publicised sentencing. -eNCA
