Chegutu East Member of the National Assembly Cde Webster Shamu has urged young people to emulate the values of African culture and humility that were demonstrated by the late national heroine Mama Mafuyana.He said Mama Mafuyana, wife to the late Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo was an inspiration.
Cde Shamu who is also Zanu-PF national political commissar, said this last Thursday during a ground breaking ceremony to construct Mama Mafuyana Primary School in Selous.
The event was attended by daughter to Mama Mafuyana, Thandi Nkomo and the construction of the school would be funded by Mr Isaac Levy, son to the late business tycoon, Mr Sam Levy.
Cde Thandi Nkomo chronicled the life they went through during the liberation struggle when the family spent most of their time with their mother, while their father was fighting the Smith regime.
The event was also attended by Chief Chivero and legislator Cde Constance Tsomonso-Shamu.
Mama Mafuyana died on June 3, 2003.
