A GWANDA man was yesterday granted a protection order against his abusive wife who forced him out of their home after allegedly threatening, assaulting and insulting him.
Lovemore Darawanda, 28, a geological technician trainee at Vumbachikwe mine, told magistrate Olivia Mashava Mashaire that his wife, Remoni Mlauzi disturbed his peace and made life difficult for him.

He said Mlauzi, whose age was not given, spends some nights away from home drinking alcohol.
“My wife is really troubling me because she assaults me and is also not a good mother to our two-year-old child as she sometimes fails to bathe or feed him.

“She drinks beer and sometimes spend nights at the bar and threatens to ensure that I don’t complete my attachment if I ever beat her,” he said.
Darawanda said his wife also chased him away from the mine’s house and subsequently denied him access to their child.

However, Mlauzi opposed the application saying she had never threatened, assaulted or insulted her husband.
“In fact, he is the one who has been assaulting me. All these allegations against me are lies. He left me and is now staying with his girlfriend,” she said.

Darawanda admitted that he was now staying with his girlfriend.
He was granted a protection order.

“The court will rule in favour of the applicant so that you live in peace,” said the magistrate.
