POLICE in Binga have arrested a 30-year-old man who fatally stabbed his friend for talking to a girl he was interested in. Qiniso Dube made an initial appearance before Hwange provincial magistrate, Miss Fungai Dzimiri, facing a murder charge.
He allegedly stabbed Mr Asher Sibanda three times with a knife following an altercation over a girl. Miss Dzimiri remanded Dube in custody to November 5 and advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.

Allegations are that on October 20, at Mafururo village in Lubimbi, Dube and five other people, including the deceased and the girl, were on their way home from Ntando Business Centre in the early hours of the morning.
Dube told Mr Sibanda to leave him and the girl as he wanted to talk to the girl, but Mr Sibanda refused. Mr Sibanda continued to follow the accused and the girl.
Dube who was not happy with that then went to his homestead and armed himself with a knife. When he returned, he found Mr Sibanda talking to the girl, resulting in an altercation. Dube then punched Mr Sibanda on the head and he fell down.
He then produced a knife and allegedly stabbed Mr Sibanda three times; once on the chest, on the back and once on the left hand. Mr Sibanda died on the way to a nearby clinic. A report was made to the police in Lubimbi leading to Dube’s arrest.
