A BULAWAYO woman yesterday told a court that her 45-year-old son is forcing her to remarry in a bid to evict her from her house. Lina Twala, a widow, of Methodist Village in Pumula, said her son Nkululeko Twala told her to remarry in an attempt to chuck her out of her house.

Lina, whose age was not given, told magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure that she wanted the court to bar her son from coming to her house.

She said she also wanted her son to be stopped from abusing her and her five grandchildren.

Magistrate Mashavakure granted an interim order against Nkululeko barring him from visiting his mother’s place of residence.

He was also ordered not to verbally or emotionally abuse his mother or to be violent towards her.

“Your Worship, it’s been three weeks since I last saw him. He started being abusive towards me and the grandchildren after my husband died.

“He tells me that he wants to kill me and says I should move out of the house. He comes and says that I should remarry or go back to my parents’ place,” said Lina.

“He comes home at night banging doors saying we should open the door for him. Amongst my five grandchildren, two of them are his and he abuses them as well. He’s not supportive of the children.”

Twala said Nkululeko forces one of his children to sell beads in town, even during school time.

“The child spends the whole day out of school and Nkululeko goes to him and takes all the money he would have got through the sales and leaves him with nothing not even money for transport. Last time the child got home at 1AM,” she said.
