A 71-YEAR-OLD Bulawayo man allegedly drugged an eight-year-old boy before sodomising him on several occasions, a magistrate has heard. Bulawayo magistrate Evelyn Mashavakure heard this when Davidson Mbambo of Trenance appeared before her facing charges of aggravated indecent assault.

Mbambo was remanded in custody to June 9.

Prosecuting, Nkathazo Dlodlo said sometime last year, the complainant who is a Grade Three pupil at a school in Bulawayo fled his parents’ home and went to stay with Mbambo for two weeks.

The court heard that during his stay at Mbambo’s home, the boy endured a torrid time as the accused would force him to smoke mbanje before forcing himself on the minor.

Mbambo would send the complainant to buy marijuana and beer and they would smoke and drink before going to bed.

During bedtime, Mbambo ordered the complainant to remove his clothes before forcing him to have anal sex with him, said Dlodlo.

The court heard that Mbambo sexually attacked the boy twice daily.

“After two weeks, Mbambo chucked the boy out of his home,” said Dlodlo.

The pupil narrated his ordeal to his uncle who in turn made a police report leading to Mbambo’s arrest.

The victim was taken to hospital for examination.

In his warned and cautioned statement, Mbambo denied the charge, arguing that he was no longer sexually active.

“I’ve no idea about this case and I didn’t commit the offence because I’m no longer sexually active due to erectile dysfunction and therefore there’s no way I could have sexually abused the complainant,” he said.
