Man arrested for raping seven-year-old

A ZIMUNYA man was arrested last Saturday after raping a seven-year-old girl.
Manicaland Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Enock Chishiri confirmed that the alleged rapist, Tendai Machiha (33) of Chengetai Village, Chief Zimunya, was arrested. The rapist is a neighbour to the girl’s family.
“At around 5pm on Saturday, Machiha took the girl together with her friend (boy also aged seven) after he enticed them with some sweets. When he arrived at his house, he separated the two and took the girl into his house, where he raped her three times.

The child went home and told her mother what had transpired.  The mother brought the case to the attention of the police and the man was arrested,” said Inspector Chishiri.

Police are appealing to  parents to ensure that when      leaving home they must first think of the safety of their children.
