Man beats up, sets dog on ex-wife

A BULAWAYO man assaulted his ex-wife after she demanded money for maintenance. Willie Muzamba, 33, appeared before Magistrate Batanai Tuwe charged with physical abuse for assaulting his ex-wife Ntombikayise Sikhosana, 35, with a wooden stick before setting his dog on her. Muzamba was not asked to plead and remanded out of custody to September 8.

Prosecuting, Raymond Makhaza said on August 31 at a time unknown to the prosecutor, Muzamba called Sikhosana to collect cash for maintenance.

Sikhosana knocked on Muzamba’s door and he refused to open and spoke to her threw a window, the court heard.

“Muzamba ordered Sikhosana to go since he did not have money. He then hit Sikhosana on the head with a wooden stick through the window. Muzamba later got out of the house and again hit Sikhosona with a stick on the head. He also set his dog on her. The dog bit part of her dress,” said Makhaza.

Sikhosana reported the incident at the Bulawayo Central Police Station leading to Muzamba’s arrest.
