A 60-YEAR-OLD woman from Glen Norah suburb in Harare died from injuries sustained during a brutal assault by her husband.
Georgina Chiramba was attacked by her spouse, Patrick Bimha, who used a spanner and fists during the incident, which occurred on February 23, 2026.
At approximately 7pm, the couple was engaged in a heated argument within their home when Bimha allegedly lost control, and struck Chiramba multiple times on her face and head.
She sustained a swollen forehead and a severe cut on her nose.
Later that evening, at around 11pm, Chiramba sought help at ZRP Glen Norah where she reported the assault.
By then, her husband had already fled the scene.
On March 2, 2026, Chiramba visited Health Direct Medical Centre at Spaceman Shopping Centre. After an evaluation, she was referred for a CT scan.
On March 5, she attended Baines Imaging Group for the scan, where she was advised to return the next day for the results.
After collecting her scan results, Chiramba’s condition worsened, and she was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
Family spokesperson Kudzai Chiramba (42) said the deceased will be laid to rest in Silobela today.
“Yes, gogo died after she had reported her case to the police. She will be buried in Silobela tomorrow (today),” said Kudzai.
A Glen Norah resident, Thomas Makina, described the incident as alarming and called for community engagement to address domestic violence.
“This heartbreaking incident underscores the urgent need for awareness and preventive measures against domestic violence. We are urging those in similar situations to seek help before it’s too late,” said Makina.
Police have since launched a manhunt for Patrick Bimha, who remains at large.
Investigations are ongoing.
