AMKELA Ncube, 21, from Lupane, has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for sodomising his 17-year-old workmate.
Ncube, a herdboy from Dakiwe village, pleaded guilty to aggravated indecent assault before Hwange regional magistrate Dambudzo Malunga.
He will serve an effective eight years after two years were conditionally suspended.
When asked why he sodomised his fellow herdboy, Ncube said, “It was the influence of the devil.”
Malunga warned him not to commit the offence in jail. “Don’t try to do it in prison, or allow it to be done to you,” she said.
Prosecuting, Tawanda Sigauke told how on June 8 this year around 1AM at Plot 160 Lupanda in Lupane, Ncube and his co-worker slept in the same bedroom and mat but under different blankets. He said the victim resisted Ncube’s advances but was threatened with stabbing before he “raped” him once.
Sigauke said the victim’s employer, Geoffrey Chimhanda, reported the matter to the police upon realising that his worker had fled the plot to stay in the bush in fear of Ncube.
