A HARARE man is forcing his wife to accept his girlfriend into their home as his second wife.
Nancy Zvomewa has dragged her husband, Moses Zvomewa, to the Harare Civil Court.
She was granted a protection order by magistrate Meenal Narotam.
She claimed Moses has been assaulting and harassing her after she refused to welcome his girlfriend into their home.
“My husband has been involved in extramarital affairs for several years and recently he decided to bring his girlfriend into our matrimonial home claiming she is now his second wife.
“He asked me to accept her and allow her to stay at our house but I refused and took this as a sign of disrespect.
“He assaulted me for not accepting his orders, telling me that I was inconsiderate.
“I then moved out and sought refuge at my parents’ house because I was being harassed every day when he came back home. Each time I prepared food, he would throw it in my face,” said Nancy.
She added:
“I have been in and out of the hospital because of his beatings, I have suffered a lot on his hands just because I have failed to allow his adultery.
“He also cheated with my friend. I want the court to protect me so that when I return to my matrimonial home, he knows the law will take action against him.
“I want to go back to my house and look after my children.”
Moses denied the allegations.
“She is lying to the court, I have never brought any woman home, she just left last month without any explanation and has not returned ever since,” he said.
