A 22-year-old man appearing for the second time before Magistrate Sekai Chiundura.
Oswell Mangwana is being charged with burning 50-year-old Mufaro Mangwana’s property.
The burnt items included a wooden door, bed, electric cables and several kitchen appliances.
He pleaded guilty before the court and in his defence he said: “I was hungry, Your Honour, so I was trying to light a fire to prepare my food.”

This wasn’t the first time he was appearing in court; the magistrate stated clearly to the court.
The last time it was for assaulting his father in July this year and he was slapped with a $50 fine.

“I was under the influence of alcohol”, he told the court after he had threatened to kill his father over a mere R5 transport fee.

The matter was postponed for ruling to 28 August 2014.
