A FORT Rixon man allegedly caught his wife with another man in a bush, tied them with a wire to a pole and assaulted them with a chain resulting in the death of his rival.
His wife sustained serious injuries and was hospitalised. Her lover Busani Mguni did not make it as he died in a wheelbarrow while being taken to his father’s homestead.
John Moyo, 34, allegedly spotted the two in a bush on his way back from work and force-marched them to his homestead where he fatally assaulted Mguni.
Moyo is facing murder and attempted murder charges.
His attempted murder trial is expected to commence on July 7 at the regional court while the murder docket is being prepared.
The State alleges that on January 18 this year, Moyo came from work and found his wife seated with Mguni in a bush.
“This didn’t go down well with Moyo who forcemarched the two to his homestead. On arrival, Moyo tied his wife, 25, and Mguni to a pole using wires and went on to assault them with a stick, rubber and chain several times all over the body till they bled,” reads the State outline.
“Other villagers saw Moyo and restrained him. He eventually stopped beating them and left them tied to the pole before leaving his homestead. They were rescued by neighbours who untied them.
‘‘His wife sustained injuries all over the body and Mguni died as a result of the assault as he sustained head injuries.”
Moyo’s wife was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals for treatment and a medical report was compiled.
