A 33-YEAR-OLD Rusape man allegedly crushed his brother to death with a huge stone following an undisclosed argument last week.
Police confirmed the incident, which happened in Zviishani Village in Chief Chiduku’s area. Phillip Makarichi (65) died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries.
“Wonderful Makarichi crushed his brother to death for undisclosed reasons. He was arrested after committing the heinous crime. We are yet to establish finer details. It is suspected that he is mentally challenged.
“Mentally challenged people should be under medical care to avoid incidents like these. Guardians of mentally challenged people should get medical assistance from police and mental health institutions in their respective districts,” said Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa.
It is alleged that Phillip left his homestead and proceeded to his brother, Boniface Makarichi’s place.
“Boniface stays with the suspected murderer. Phillip took a broom intending to clean the room.
“Wonderful came from behind holding a big stone and crushed him. He bled profusely after sustaining serious injuries. He died on the spot,” said Insp Kakohwa.
