Prosecutor Ms Francisca Mukumbiri said on November 19, 2009 Karimazondo was ordered by the High Court to pay US$800 maintenance per month for his two children Ruvimbo and Takudzwa Karimazondo.
It is alleged that Charles and his wife Mabel had also agreed on certain terms for the maintenance of the children with effect from November 2009.
It is the State’s contention that Karimazondo defaulted paying US$73 854 for maintenance and terms agreed on from December 2009 to December last year.
According to the State papers, maintenance and pocket money amounted to US$24 400, Ruvimbo’s 2012 school fees US$8 100, school activities US$15 554 and US$25 800 for holidays.
The former couple was granted a decree of divorce on the grounds that their marriage had broken down irretrievably and there were no prospects of restoring a normal marriage relationship.
Following their divorce, Mabel retained custody of the two children Ruvimbo who was born in 1992 and Takudzwa who was born in 1997.
The High Court ordered Karimazondo to pay US$250 for each child.
He was also ordered to pay US$200 monthly allowance to Ruvimbo and US$100 to Takudzwa.
Karimazondo was also ordered to pay medical aid for the the two children as well as school fees.
The court also ordered him to pay for two local holidays for the children and an international or regional trip per year.
Mr Ndirowei deferred the matter to Monday next week for trial.
