A HARARE man took his ex-wife to the Harare Civil Court and demanded a DNA test before he could pay child support.

Edward Chipanga accused his ex-wife, Fiona Kapungwe, of having an extramarital affair, when the two were still married.

Chipanga told the court that he doubts that their two kids are his children and wants a paternity test first before paying maintenance.

“I’m thinking of going to Tinashe Mugabe for confirmation because l have no money to pay for the tests.

“If the kids are mine, then I will start paying maintenance.

“I suspect that the kids are not mine because l was never at home often and neighbours would tell me that my wife was cheating on me.”

Fiona agreed to go for a DNA test saying she was faithful and accused Chipanga of wasting time to avoid paying child support.

“We have another pending case at the Harare Magistrates’ Court as he claims that the court papers were served to his brother.

“He doesn’t want to take care of our kids, and that’s why we are going through all this,” she said.

Magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini gave Chipanga three months to do the DNA test.
