A MAN from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo allegedly asked for sex from his neighbour and when he was turned down, he spat on her before assaulting her and smashing her pots.

Maxwell Chikerwa, 27, appeared before magistrate Themba Chimiso facing indecent assault, assault and malicious damage to property charges.

Chikerwa was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to May 4.

Prosecuting, Steward Madzore said on April 5, Chikerwa went to the house of his neighbour Senzolukuhle Masuku, 33.

He allegedly found her doing dishes and asked her if they could have sex.

The court heard that Masuku turned down his request and Chikerwa allegedly started fondling her breasts.

“Masuku pushed Chikerwa away and he got angry and spat on her before he poured dirty water which she was using to do the dishes on her,” said Madzore.

He said Chikerwa also picked up a pot and used it to assault Masuku on her forehead and leg.

Madzore said Chikerwa threw and smashed two pots causing damage worth $20.
