A HARARE man, who was on his way to the funeral of a businessman, killed after being hit by a car, died in an accident in the Avenues area of the capital.
Evans Danje, 51, was killed on the spot when his Toyota Hilux was hit by a Toyota Toyace, registration number AHO 5520, on Sunday, May 31.
The accident happened at the intersection of Simon Muzenda Road and Baines Avenue.
The car, which slammed into Danje’s vehicle, was being driven by a teenager from Bindura.
The other two occupants, in the car which rammed into Danje’s vehicle, were also teenagers.
They all survived the accident.
Earlier that evening, Danje was with his friends at Newlands Shopping Centre, in Harare.
He excused himself by telling them he was going to attend the funeral of his colleague, businessman Innocent Murauro.
Murauro, also known as Shumba or Fatherz, had died the previous day, on Saturday, May 30, in Harare.
He was hit by a car in the same Avenues area.
However, Danje did not reach his destination.
According to preliminary reports, Arnold Kureva, 18, of Chiwaridzo in Bindura, was driving the Toyota Toyace, which slammed into the Toyota Hilux, which was being driven by Danje.
The reports claim Kureya did not give way, resulting in the accident.
The impact caused Danje’s vehicle to roll several times before coming to rest on its side.
Danje sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
Kureva and his passengers—Ashly Mhanza (15) and Mudzingaidzwa Glen (17)—were injured and were rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment.
National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, was not available for comment at the time of going to press.
The case is being investigated under RRB 6874902.
Murauro was hit and killed by a car in exactly the same circumstances, and on exactly the same day of the week, as his business partner, Tendai Njiva, who died two months ago.
The car, which first hit him, is said to have dragged him for about 30 metres, before he was hit by another vehicle.
His death was virtually a carbon copy of how his friend, Njiva, died in Harare two months ago.
He was hit by a car on Saturday, March 14, while he was crossing Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Road, on the edges of the Eastlea neighbourhood in Harare.
Two other cars also rolled over his body.
Muramuro gave a speech during Njiva’s burial.
